“SWALLOW THIS” NEW HOT MILK SINGLE
Hot Milk is back with “Swallow This,” the lyrically and sonically-packed new single. This is the sophomore release for their upcoming album Corporation P.O.P. releasing on June 27 under Music For Nations records. The album’s first single, “90 Seconds To Midnight,” came out on Feb. 25.
Getting their start in Manchester, U.K., rock band Hot Milk consists of singers/guitarists, Hannah Mee and Jim Shaw, who instantly connected over their desire to make a change and find an outlet to speak about the things weighing them down. The band formed in 2018 and since then have been rocking out and creating a fanbase that has become more like a family for the band, and the fans. While Mee and Shaw founded the band, drummer Harry Deller, and bassist Tom Paton make up the rest of the group. Their 2023 debut album A Call To The Void gave the world a handful of singles that caught the attention of alternative listeners across the globe. Hot Milk’s commitment to authenticity and community has gained them over half a million monthly listeners on Spotify. Hot Milk’s sound can be described as a mixture of pop-punk, emo and alt-rock.
“Swallow This” starts with a breakbeat-style drum buildup and expands into explosive vocals and instrumentals. There is passion behind each lyric sung. “They sell a motive as a stimulant /Swallow this for the disconnection / Brick by brick, build a broken nation,” Mee sings in the chorus. The breakdown of the song is when we hear both Mee and Shaw scream, “Bow down, testify like your life’s on the brink / Bow down and spit it out.”

Having the two singers scream this breakdown is enough to give any listener chills. There is something so refreshing about seeing an artist fearfully speak up about the social injustice we see in our everyday lives across the world, and Hot Milk does just that. The band is not afraid to create a space to question authority and that is what gives them the authenticity to grow such a strong fan base.
The guitar riffs on this track have an entrancing sound that leaves listeners no other choice but to hit the replay button, especially during the bridge of the song. Deller left nothing behind when drumming for this track. Every ounce of energy is felt from the very first explosive drum beat till the very last. This track does not hold back in any sense, especially lyrically and instrumentally. Hot Milk have given what we can only suspect is a warm introduction to their album Corporation P.O.P.
Hot Milk will embark on The Vamp Tour this spring to support Magnolia Park, along with Savage Hands and South Arcade.
