DEB NEVER RELEASES NEW SINGLE
Deb Never’s new single “This Alive”, released on February 6, is a must-listen. Currently on tour with worldwide sensation, Wallows, Deb Never winning over new fans in every city they visit. The nearly four minute song compiles all the best of Deb Never, weaving lyrics and sound together into a track you can put on repeat. Released a couple months after the previous single “Not in Love,” “This Alive” is a success in treating previous listeners and having the potential to pull in new ones.
The muffled vocals featured throughout the song add a sonically interesting twist that immediately captures the listeners attention from the beginning. The soft lead-up before the first lyrics kick in is the perfect opening for “This Alive”. This piece of the track adds to the overall chill sound Deb Never is achieving.
The consistent and cool beat in the background cushions the lyrics and the mesmerizing voice to elevate “This Alive” to an entirely new plane. Deb Never blends all of the elements of this single together into a captivating masterpiece. The outro speaks out all on its own, a repetition of “All of the sudden” blending into the background as the track turns to focus more on the instrumentals. A very strong ending to an overall strong single that matches the opening enough to create a loop of vibes as it repeats over again.
Certain lines draw the attention as you listen, such as the lines from the second verse, “If this goes on / Somebody call the cops / I wanna ride / Just to feel this alive”, the line featuring the name of the track, of course, called “This Alive.”
Deb Never’s work is incredible and the new single not only stands well on its own, but creates excitement for the older work as well as anything new that might be coming. Anyone listening can tell that this is an artist to look out for in the future.
