LOVE IS THE LAW — an album, a statement and a work of art that has heavily impacted the music career of Love Spells and has sold out many venues across the world. Club Dada in Dallas was lucky to be one of the tour stops of the rising star, with the venue floor filling up quickly as soon as the doors opened.
Love Spells’ debut album, LOVE IS THE LAW, droppped in July and it quickly became one of my favorite album releases this year; even possibly my favorite debut album of 2026. The release seems to be a major turning point in his music career, catching the attention of other artists such as Steve Lacy and Rico Nasty. The 12-track album is worth setting aside 42 minutes to thoroughly listen. After I decided it was much too valuable to gatekeep, I have been recommending it to everybody around me since it dropped.
The sold-out venue was the type of full where even a trip to the bathroom was somewhat of a big deal. The lights were low, and the air was hot, but the room was full of love, the kind of show where no negative thoughts or feelings could hold space.
The support for the Love Is The Law World Tour, Orca, was warmly welcomed by the full crowd of Texans. Orca, a duo from San Antonio, is made up of the beautiful angelic voice of Mylena Velasquez and the talented Daniel Galloway on drums. Velasquez wore a long skirt and a top with flowy sleeves that captivated us as she gracefully moved around the stage. Galloway provided vocals on many of their songs throughout the set, proving the power of their dynamic. The vocals of these two performers alone could take them on a successful headlining tour in their future. Orca’s music has a soft dream-pop sound that perfectly captures the beauty of the duo’s personalities and smiles. Their music style is pretty parallel to that of Love Spells, making Orca the perfect opener for this tour.
The band members took the stage while an instrumental track took over the room and the crowd’s anticipation reached its peak. After the perfect build-up, the crowd screamed as Love Spells himself, Sir Taegen C’aion Harris, stepped onto the stage in cowboy boots, Wrangler jeans, a leather jacket and sunglasses. His wardrobe oozed aura, and his stage presence was that of someone who has been selling out much larger venues for a much longer amount of time than the reality.
The lack of a photo pit at Club Dada allowed for an intimate show. Throughout the set, Harris would interact with fans, even at one point accepting a Texas homecoming pin from somebody in the front row and wore it pinned to his guitar strap. Later, a man from the middle of the room yelled, “Bro I’m straight, but you’re fine as hell,” to which Harris replied, “If you’re not straight, that’s okay too.” This got a few laughs and a lot of “awww’s.”
One thing about Love Spells? He is going to dance. At home, backstage, between songs — but most importantly, while performing. He moves in a way that shows he doesn’t just perform the music but that he is the music. The stage lights danced to the beat with him as a large, dark red banner hung behind the band stating “LOVE IS THE LAW.” Although his voice was soft and delicate, almost feminine, it was also rich and full of range. His lyrics reached every corner of the venue with the help of the fans who knew every word, singing his songs right back to him. The audience might have been the loudest during “Keep It To Yourself,” one of the tracks from the new album.
Love Spells’ band members are not only extremely talented musicians but also some of the most genuine and kind people. Harris took the time to introduce each of them, giving them their deserved credit. They all shared some of the spotlight as Harris would engage with guitarist Lazer Cohen and Kace on bass. Oliver Cooper held the foundation, killing it on the drums. Each musician looked like they were having the time of their lives with big smiles on their faces the entire time.
A lot of fan-favorite songs made appearances on this warm Dallas evening, such as “Don’t Touch” and “Crutch.” During one song, Harris jumped down into the crowd, and they formed a pit around him, hyping him up. Shortly after, it was brought to Harris’ attention that one of the fans had a birthday and chose to spend it at a Love Spells concert, so he brought the birthday boy up on stage. The venue sang along as the band played him the happy birthday song. The room lit up as flashlights came out for a song before the setlist got super vulnerable with “The Illness.”
A big thank you was given to the fans of Dallas who showed up and sold out the venue. Just like that, the lights were lowered, and the show was over, or so we thought. The front row started the “One more song!” chant before everybody else joined in. The lights came up, and the band took the stage one more time, followed by Harris.
“Wish I Didn’t Love You” was the final song of the night, but things didn’t just end there. The performers took the time after the show to take pictures with fans, say hi and sign autographs.
It is no surprise that the Love Is The Law World Tour is selling out or that Love Spells is rising to a whole new status level. His talent in the studio and in person is absolutely undeniable.
