Lifelong friends and music school alumni Jombi is gearing up for the release of their third album by dropping new single “‘Til the Shed Collapse.” For fans of The Backseat Lovers and Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Jombi may be right up your alley, so why not go down the road they roam that’s better alone with them in “’Til the Shed Collapse.”

In 2021, Jombi was formed out of lifelong friendships and a love for creating unique music. In a garage in Memphis, Tennessee, Bry Hart (drums) and Caleb Crouch (bass) started weekly jam sessions where they found a rhythm together. Later on, buddies Sam Wallace (guitar) and Auden Brummer (guitar/vocals) joined the mix, creating an epic psychedelic blend of sound. Since then, they have rocked out in the local Memphis scene and released two full-length albums. Jombi has a truly unique collection of songs; no track is like another.

“‘Til the Shed Collapse” is an electric mix of hard-hitting fast instrumentals with a sweet, almost melancholic feel. The song starts instantaneously, with no time to waste. Vocalist Brummer starts the song as if he is explaining to an unknown identity his life goals and the path he is taking to reach them.

Listeners are hit with drums and a guitar melody that will keep anyone hooked and excited to see where the song will take them. These four musicians take influence from modern psychedelic rock, ’70s experimental rock, Midwest emo and folk rock, which really shines through in “‘Til the Shed Collapse.” It’s engaging, stimulating and, well, just an absolute banger.

Brummer uses the phrase “wait for the wind,” which can be interpreted as if he is just waiting for the moment where all of the pieces fall into place and everything he is dreaming of and working toward is within reach. The shed can be compared to his determination and drive toward his goals, where he just keeps going and trying until the shed collapses and he has met his goals or even surpassed them. The lyrics overall within the song allude to a narrative of wanting to run away, leaving everything in the past with an excitement and determination for a better future rooted in self discovery, growth and not looking back.

Toward the end of the track, we are graced with the presence of a guitar solo that shares the spotlight with consistent symbols and snare, switching it up through the end, where they part ways with a fade out.

With their third album just out of reach, it will be exciting to see where Jombi goes from here with their sound. Just like the lyrics said: we all know there’s change in the air.
