Daisy Grenade is coming out on top with their newest single “Girls Are So Lucky” — bringing massive energy to the track as they get more raw and relatable than ever. With every new release, this duo proves how well they’ve cemented their spot in the scene with their unique sound, and their audience is only growing because of it.
Along with the song, Daisy Grenade also announced their highly anticipated EP So Much To Say will be out May 15, just four days before their tour of the same name kicks off in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Made up of Keaton Whittaker and Dani Nigro from Brooklyn, New York, this powerhouse duo have mastered the sparkly grunge aesthetic with heavy-hitting tracks that make any crowd want to get up on their feet as they scream lyrics that could be straight out of the fans’ own diaries.
The production of “Girls Are So Lucky” feels crisp and clean while still keeping that edginess to the track, and their musical theatre backgrounds help propel their vocals to the next level. As the song starts, the stripped-back acoustic guitar starts listeners out deceptively slow, quickly adding in fast paced drums and synth as the song progresses. The song feels like the embodiment of tour life for them, especially as women in the industry, recounting their misfortune under the lens of still being lucky to experience it. The irony is baked into every line, as they go from “AC gave out in Houston / Sweating in all black” to just one line later switching the perspective to “Hotshot, yeah we got it / And you already know.” The beat kicks in further from here, making the song feel even more fast-paced and mimicking the rush of their daily life on the road.
“Are you with the band? / Are you the drummer’s girlfriend?” / Don’t ask me who I am.”
Even as the lead singers in their own band, Whittaker and Nigro have to prove themselves to everyone they meet in ways that male-fronted bands would never have to. Even though the whole song is very upbeat and cheeky, the lyrics are still raw and true to their own experiences which is such an important quality the two showcase in their songwriting.

As Whittaker and Nigro sing lightheartedly about keeping up the ruse of living their dream life, the beat morphs completely to become more distorted and far away. This switch feels very intentional, drawing listeners further into that headspace of the dream life as the lyrics repeat like a mantra. The switch becomes even more intense during the bridge, bringing in heavy club vibes as the beat breaks down and the vocals become warped. This continues through the end of the song as they live in that moment before it ends and repeats again the next night.
“Girls Are So Lucky” is a feel-good song that anyone would dance around to on the surface with meaningful, thought-out lyrics underneath it. Undoubtedly, this song will become a stand-out moment during the duo’s upcoming tour setlist, with fans screaming all of the lyrics back to them every night.
