NOAM PERI’S EP “FLOWERS” WILL TAKE YOU ON A WHIRLWIND EMOTIONAL JOURNEY

Noam Peri’s new EP “Flowers” is an exciting journey of past and present love and relationships. The 70s influence is mixed with a modern sound that speaks to any listener. Released on Feb 20, the six-track EP’s title was inspired by Peri’s very first band of the same name she formed while attending school in LA.

Peri has been putting out music for a few years now, with her very first song “Jenny may” dropping in 2021. Prior to the release of “Flowers”, Peri released three singles in the first half of 2024: “Debbie”, “Darling, I Would” and “Take You Home.”

The first track, “Angel”, is a haunting track about a missed love that only another life could provide. Peri sings of a relationship that takes place only in her head as much as she wants it to be real. The bridge of this song is the stand out moment, with beautiful lyrics, “In my sleep / I’m sure I know her / She is always awake / In my mind / I think I have nothing / To hope for / There is nothing else / To find”, which are paired with softer, captivating vocals.

Following “Angel” is the more up-beat track, “Take You Home,” which was a single released in June of 2024. This track consists of Peri ignoring the warnings of the people around her to choose her own love, even when people are telling her that girls will “never look your way.”

Peri is a proud queer artist and this track showcases that. Her love for this girl is shown so beautifully as she sings poetic lines like, “But I'll gladly follow / Your fantasy trail,” and “I will give you the moon / and you’ll be my sun.”

Peri writes the soft ballad track “In the Storm” as a call to let this person know that she will always protect them and care for them when they need it. The instrumentals in this song feel comforting on their own, wrapping the listener in a metaphorical hug while Peri sings, “If you want to cry / I will hold you / Even when you try / To run away.”

“Darling, I Would” is instrument heavy, with a strong guitar presence. The vocals are uplifted by the exceptional melody. The song is about wanting to spend all of your time with one person and yearning to be with them closer than just friends. The lines “If I could / kiss you / Darling, I would / But I can’t trust / my mind,” encapsulate the song perfectly.

The next track features the first single released for the EP, “Debbie.” This track is an ode to musical pioneer Debbie Harry, who Peri admires and uses as an influence to the entire EP. This track features a strong drum beat that you can feel throughout the entire song. Peri speaks to Debbie through the lyrics, singing “Oh, Debbie, tell me, is it true / There are no more women like you.”

The last track, a bonus for the EP, is the English version of her song originally written in Hebrew from her 2022 EP, “Pipes.” The track is masterfully written and contains lines like “Choke me / Like the smoke of a fire. / You know how to leave, / Disappear in silence.” The song is a great closer, a beautiful addition to “Flowers” and fits in great with the rest of the tracks written for the EP.

Peri’s work on “Flowers” is amazing and really speaks to her vocal and musical talent. A constant stand-out in the indie music scene, Peri is not one to miss.
