If you’re looking for a song that feels like a flower field on a sunny day, “Machu Picchu” is waiting for you.

Spring Term, created by Nathan Davis, who writes and produces, is a relaxing dip into the musical world. With the intention of replicating the feeling of spring in the music, Spring Term has mastered a chill, indie pop vibe that would be perfect for long drives with the windows down.

The instrumentals of “Machu Picchu” are simplistic, but not lacking. The guitar and piano, along with the backing instruments and production style, create a Lo-Fi vibe that allows you to relax with it.

“Machu Picchu” is named after the ancient Inca city in Peru. The name hints at Spring Term’s affinity for nature-inspired themes. Machu Picchu is beautiful and iconic, and its song counterpart echoes this through whimsical sounds and soft, calming vocals that make up the track.

The song speaks of wanting the subject to stay with the singer forever; he will be there and be a safe space for the subject. The chorus speaks to his true feelings and his desire for the subject: “But when the rain comes / Don’t ever go / I need you / Confide in me like I’m Machu Picchu.” The singer is unmoving and forever, just like the city he compares himself to.

There’s also a line in Spanish that aids in delving into the true depth of the singer’s want for the subject: “Cuídame como si fuera Machu Picchu.” The line loosely means “Take care of me” or “Watch over me” as if the singer were Machu Picchu. The meaning of the song boils down to the singer pleading with the subject to always be near, always allow the singer into their life, and always watch over each other.

“Machu Picchu” is a sweet, soothing song on love tied to the beauty of nature and its unmoving essence.
