Fans of softer, sadder music will find a home and camaraderie with Hollie Isabella. Released on April 10, Isabella’s newest single “greenhouse” calls on imbalances in relationships on being used to better someone else with no reward for yourself.

From Perth, Australia, the 18-year-old singer-songwriter spends a lot of time in London working on her art. This year, Isabella plans to move to Paris to work as an au pair while continuing to create music and gain life experience to help her craft her career.

Isabella’s third single “greenhouse” weaves a story of giving up pieces of yourself for the betterment of your partner, and trying to make peace with it before becoming aware that you deserve better and are your own person — not just someone else’s tool.

Her lyrics are injected with the need to be a separate entity, begging for the chance to be set free, coming to light strongly in the chorus:

Isabella spends the song pleading for the relationship and her pain to be over while understanding she needs to have part in it: forgiving her partner to fully move on.

Her future peace is dependent on acceptance of the situation so she can heal.

The song itself is kept soft and light, a reflection of the emotion driving the song. Isabella models “greenhouse” after the nature of not wanting to make a scene and instead just leave the situation, a sort of self-preservation over a blow up fight. There’s a gentle mix of piano and percussion backing her tender vocals to express her slow realization that something needs to change.

“greenhouse” is just one of many more Hollie Isabella songs to come, so make sure to keep an eye on her as she grows her career and continues to tug on listener’s heartstrings and speak to their hidden emotions.
