The multi-colored string lights hung from the ceiling, and the ambient lighting created a comforting atmosphere, perfectly complementing the band’s essence.

Love and heartbreak are common themes in music and a shared experience for listeners, and Comfort Club encapsulates those feelings in their catchy indie-pop music. Their meaningful lyrics tell a story, and the soft instrumentation makes the listener feel as if they have been transported to a cozy coffee shop– perfectly capturing the sense of comfort their name suggests. Hearing the band live is an experience that brings their songs to life.
The California-based trio made their first visit to Texas in February, performing at Shoeshine Charley’s Big Top Lounge in Houston, which was the first of three Texas shows. The show supports their 2024 album Fear of Moving On and showcases some of their latest singles, including “Foreverproof.”
Consisting of Colin Tracy (lead vocals and guitar), Tyler Gill (vocals and guitar) and Nate Sanders (drums), Comfort Club has been releasing music since 2019 with the debut single “Groceries,” and has steadily grown a loyal social media following since.
Before the show, the band set up Guitar Hero on a MacBook at the merch table, featuring a few of their songs to choose from. This pre-show activity offered an opportunity to win a free merchandise item for achieving the highest score. As more fans entered the room, the excitement began to build. People gathered at the bar for a drink and came together in the space in front of the stage. The bar offered an intimate setting for connecting and seeing the band up close.
As Comfort Club stepped on stage, the enthusiasm steadily built. They opened with “Sleep Fine” and the crowd began singing along while capturing pictures and videos. The band brought a vibrant energy to the close-knit venue, continuing with old favorites such as their 2022 single “IDK Forever,” “Never Could Have Broke It” and “Next Birthday.”
In between songs, the band interacted with fans, making them laugh with jokes. They stated that they were thrilled to play in Texas for the first time and were grateful for everyone who came out to support them. Fans cheered and sang along to the songs, dancing and living in the moment. The band hinted at new material and exciting news for this year, giving the crowd something to look forward to.

They performed an unreleased track, “Plausible Deniability,” before continuing to favorites like “I Think I Love You,” “Foreverproof” and the 2022 song “(Love) A Reason To Hate You.” The set ended with a cover of Pinegrove’s song “Old Friends,” leaving the crowd wanting more. Some fans didn’t want the night to end as they called out for an encore.
After the show, fans met at the merch table to buy items and take photos with the band. The night flew by, creating a fear of moving on from the show. The anticipation of Comfort Club returning to Houston instantly hit. The band has more plans up its sleeve for 2026, so make sure to stay up to date on their socials to see what’s next.
